The Okeechobee Youth Livestock Show & Sale was created as a means for 4-H and FFA students to show and sell their livestock projects which include beef breeding cattle, dairy cattle, lambs, swine, and steers. Poultry and rabbits are also exhibited. The young people are required to meet specific criteria related to their projects in addition to keeping a record book. The students learn how to raise, groom, and show their animals by participating in 4-H and FFA organizations. These types of activities teach our young people responsibility, record keeping, organization skills, communication skills and many other life-long learning tools.
The Okeechobee Livestock Show Committee consists of sixteen volunteer members that administer and manage the show and sale. Each year, the committee awards scholarships to qualified graduating seniors that apply.
