The first annual Miss Okeechobee County Fair
Pageant was held on March 7th in the Okeechobee County Fair
Entertainment Building at the Argri-Civic Center.
Mary Kathleen Barber took home the honor of becoming the first Miss
Okeechobee County Fair Queen. Mary Kathleen is 15 years old
and a freshman at Okeechobee Freshman Campus. She is currently
an assistant dance teacher at Leslie's Dance Studio and likes
dancing, acting, modeling, being with her friends and family. Ms. Barber, an honor student, plans to attend Florida State University performing arts
center to become either a dancer or choreographer.
Mary is the
daughter of Thomas and Susan Barber.
Mary-Kathleen will go on to compete in the Miss Teen Florida USA
Pageant, which will be held in Hollywood, Florida during the first
week of October, 2008. The entertaining pageant, "Life's A Stage," was
coordinated by Leslie Stokes and included entertainment by the award
winning dance group of Leslie's Dance Studio.
Six beautiful young women competed in the pageant
The contestants were judged on individual interviews,
swimwear, evening gown, and on stage questions. The judges from
Illinois and Georgia reported that all the girls were great and the
decision was a hard one. . .very few points separated the
contestants.
After her crowing, Mary was highly visible throughout the week of
the Fair, and will represent the Okeechobee County Fair at other events
throughout her reign, including the 2008 Miss Teen Florida USA
pageant.
